Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, FCA warns you and then automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by a car ahead. The system also detects pedestrians and cyclists.

Driver Attention Warning (DAW) recognises when the driver is showing signs of fatigue or has been driving continuously for an extened period of time. It uses the windshield mounted camera to monitor the Kona N’s position in a lane, while also tracking steering, brake pedal use, and time since your last break. Gentle chimes and pop-up messages will suggest you take a break.

Lane Following Assist (LFA) uses the front windshield mounted camera to detect lane markers and preceding traffic on the road, and provides steering assistance to ensure the vehicle stays in the centre of the lane.

Lane Keeping Assist – Line/Road Edge (LKA-L/R) system consists of two modes – Lane Departure Warning (LDW) mode, and Lane Keeping Assist (LKA) mode. At speeds of 60km/h or above, LDW uses the windshield mounted camera to detect lane markings and road edges, and monitors the vehicle’s position in the lane. Should the vehicle stray from the intended lane without indicators being activated, an audible and visual warning will be sounded. LKA can be active at speeds of 60km/h or above where lane marking can be detected. LKA helps prevent the vehicle from straying from the lane by providing steering intervention should the driver not react to warnings from the LDW system.

While you’re driving with your high beam headlights on, High Beam Assist is automatically scanning the road ahead. If it detects an oncoming vehicle, it will automatically dim your headlamps to low beam.

Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) uses radar sensors on either side of the rear bumper to detect vehicles next to and diagonally behind the Kona N. If a vehicle is detected in the blind spot while the turn signal is flashing, BCA will automatically apply left or right-side front braking before your attempted lane change thus helping you avert an unsafe lane change and a potential collision.

Using the BCA system’s radar sensors, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA) monitors for traffic approaching on either side of the Kona N when reversing out of perpendicular parking spaces at speeds of up to 8km/h. Should RCCA detect a vehicle approaching, an audible warning will sound, with a visual warning displayed on the dash cluster. In the case that the driver does not adhere to the warning, RCCA may use braking force and help avoid a collision with the approaching vehicle.
